I have received an email for the ASPCA'S Washington Representatives and to my HORROR the Horse Slaughter Bill passed. We who worked so hard are in SHOCK!!!! How many of you even took the time to call or write your Representative, really how many. Everyone just talks, and they do nothing. I blogged this message and I gave everyone the emails to send directly with email address of all representatives. All addresses were given by the ASPCA Washington Representatives, so that each person had the opportunity to voice their concern regarding this bill. The emails were not just for Florida alone, but for every state in the union. I guess wearing blinders and putting your hands over your eyes many of you feel will stop this barbaric action against our horses. Those of you who did nothing should look into your hearts and know what a destructive decision each of you made not to take action. To me it is an outrage, and maybe for some of you who are horse people, who cares right!!! It's not my horse, not yet. Just remember when one makes the decision to sell their horse for a specific reason, and the new buyer you chose seems to be a very good choice. The possibility can occur at sometime, that they too will sell your horse and maybe to a slaughter plant. (top dollar) One would be just as guilty, as the buyer, but the reality is no one will no for sure, and would you take that chance with your horse???? Our senior horses, our wild mustangs, wild burros are at the front lines and this is a travesty that should have never happen. They will be slaughtered for human consumption and maybe each of you who did nothing should watch a slaughter, it is the most inhumane and barbaric action against a horse ever known or seen.
Be ashamed, that you did nothing at all.
If it is not us to make our voices heard then WHO??? Mahalo

Hi Tia,
We are very sorry to share that our collective efforts to pass the Roybal-Allard/Dent Amendment were not successful today. We missed the mark by a mere 2 votes.
This is a discouraging result, especially given the amount of work so many of you poured into this effort. We were close enough to believe we could win, but we were working uphill this year as some of our longtime faithful voters were no longer sitting on the committee.
You rose to the challenge of making yourselves heard. You posted on social media, you wrote letters and made calls. And now, because the issue of whether horse slaughter becomes a reality in our own communities is far from resolved, we must ask you to do it all again.
The most important moment after a vote is right now. Before they forget and move on. Please, take a moment to scan the list below to find your member of Congress and check how they voted.
Voted Yes: Roybal-Allard, Dent, Bishop, Wasserman Schultz, Kaptur, Lee, Aguilar, Cartwright, Joyce, Kilmer, Lowey, McCullom, Meng, Pingree, Pocan, Price, Quigley, Rooney, Ryan, Serrano, Visclosky, Yoder, Ruppersberger, Clark, Delauro
Voted No: Amodei, Cole, Aderholt, Calvert, Carter, Cuellar, Culberson, Diaz-Balart, Frelinghuysen, Fleischmann, Fortenberry, Granger, Graves, Herrera-Beutler, Jenkins, Moolenaar, Newhouse, Palazzo, Robey, Rogers, Simpson, Stewart, Taylor, Valadao, Womak, Young, Harris
If they voted yes, please immediately shoot them a thank you email and make a call to their office to let them know that their loyalty for horse welfare has not gone unnoticed and we honor their stand.
If they voted no, please immediately send them an email expressing your dismay and shock that they would support the use of our precious tax dollars on slaughtering horses. And ask them to explain what motivated their vote. It is important to be polite, as frustrating as it is. They will have this issue come before them again so this is our chance to understand what happened.
Horse slaughter plants will begin to ramp up efforts to re-open, and this industry may get the green light to return to our country unless we make a lot of noise and fast. The good news is that we will see the same amendment offered in the Senate next week so we need to be ready.
Will you stay with us? Will you help us win this in the Senate? Will you help us get it in the final bill? It’s still possible but we have a mountain of work to do. We need you now more than ever.
Talk to you soon,
Audrey, Kathryn and Geoff
