Dear tia/poidogsanuenue,
Just this week, SEARA, Brazil's second largest pork producer, said that it will completely phase out the use of gestation crates, metal cages used to confine breeding sows in one of the most abusive practices in agribusiness.
In Brazil, most breeding sows are confined in these individual crates for the majority of their lives, unable to turn around or walk. Their suffering is intense and unrelenting.

SEARA is owned by JBS, the world's largest animal processing company. Together, their commitment will improve the lives of animals on a massive scale.
Crate-free purchasing policies are increasing globally in response to consumer demand for better animal welfare conditions. We're hopeful that more companies will follow the example set by JBS.
