HONEYBEE, BUMBLE BEE AND BRAZILIAN WASPS CAN THEIR VENOM BE THE ANSWER TO CANCER

HONEY BEE, BUMBLE BEE AND BRAZILIAN WASPS VENOM
Can we stop breast cancer, maybe so, what about other cancers... I believe we can, and more and more studies show especially with the help of certain Endangered Species there are possibilities and all is possible... Using the venom from 312 honeybees and bumblebees in Perth Western Australia, Ireland, and England, Dr. Ciara Duffy from the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research and The University of Western Australia, tested the effect of the venom on the clinical subtypes of breast cancer, including triple-negative breast cancer, which has limited treatment options. These results were published in the journal npj Precision Oncology revealed that the honeybee venom did rapidly destroy triple-negative breast cancer and HER2-enriched breast cancer cells. The aim of the research was to test the anti-cancer properties of honeybee venom, and the component compound, Melittin, on different types of breast cancer cells. No-one had previously compared the effects of honeybee venom or Melittin across all of the different subtypes of breast cancer and normal cells. The institute tested a very small, positively charged peptide in honeybee venom called Melittin, which they could reproduce synthetically, and found that the synthetic product definitely mirrored the majority of the anti-cancer effects found in honeybee venom, per Dr. Duffy. They also found both honeybee venom and Melittin significantly, and selectively, rapidly reduced the viability of triple-negative breast cancer and HER2-enriched breast cancer cells. "The venom was extremely potent" A specific concentration of honeybee venom can induce 100% cancer cell death while having minimal effects on normal cells. “Now that is incredible” They also found that Melittin can completely destroy cancer cell membranes within 60 minutes. Melittin in honeybee venom was also found to have another remarkable effect; within 20 minutes, Melittin was able to substantially reduce the chemical messages of cancer cells that are essential to cancer cell growth and cell division. Wow!!! Melittin modulated the signaling in breast cancer cells by suppressing the activation of the receptor that is commonly overexpressed in triple-negative breast cancer, the epidermal growth factor receptor, and it suppressed the activation of HER2 which is over-expressed in HER2-enriched breast cancer, per Dr. Duffy.

Western Australia's Chief Scientist Professor Peter Klinken said "This is an incredibly exciting observation that Melittin, a major component of honeybee venom, can suppress the growth of deadly breast cancer cells, particularly triple-negative breast cancer. The institute also found that Melittin can be used with small molecules or chemotherapies, such as Docetaxel, to treat highly aggressive types of breast cancer. This combination of Melittin and Docetaxel was extremely efficient in reducing tumor growth in mice. Perth bees are some of the healthiest in the world, the bees were put to sleep with carbon dioxide before the venomed barb was removed and the venom was extracted very delicately. While there are 20,000 species of bees, Dr. Duffy, from the Harry Perkins Institute wanted to compare the effects of Perth honeybee venom to other honeybee populations in Ireland and England, as well as to the venom of bumblebees. She found that the European honeybee in Australia, Ireland, and England produced almost identical effects in breast cancer compared to normal cells. However, bumblebee venom was unable to induce cell death even at very high concentrations. One of the first reports of the effects of bee venom was published in Nature in 1950, where the venom reduced the growth of tumors in plants. However, it has been only in the past two decades that interest grew substantially into the effects that honeybee venom had on different cancers cells. Studies will continue and be required to formally assess the optimum method of delivery of Melittin, as well as toxicities and maximum tolerated doses. ________________________________________Story Source: Materials provided by Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. Breaking News from Avaaz: Who is Avaaz?? Avaaz means Voice and the voice of all Avaaz members are heard in every court loud and clear, especially when they came against the biggest organization Monsanto. Avaaz is a 47-million-person global campaign network that works to ensure that the views and values of the world's people shape global decision-making. Avaaz members live in every nation of the world, and is spread across 18 countries on 6 continents and operates in 17 languages. Never cross Angels who work to save our Earth from Extinction. We work with God to preserve and protect all species and save EARTH from destruction!!! Mahalo ..

11,000 scientists just announced that climate change has us on track for 'untold suffering', while the UN says the collapse of our ecosystems could wipe out a **MILLION** species.

And, yes we could be one of them.

There used to be many "environmental issues". But now, it's all one struggle. For life itself. We’re not separate from nature -- we ARE nature, and in this struggle, we can find our true selves: not a virus that plagues this planet, but a species that protects all life.

Millions of us have backed Avaaz campaigns for 100% clean energy, and for "50/50", a game-changing plan to protect half our planet for nature. But to win, we must bring these two giant campaigns together in a massive worldwide movement for life itself -- and we need to do it fast.

With two major global summits in China and the UK, we will see if they decide whether to urgently protect nature and cut carbon pollution.

If 10,000 of us chip in just the cost of a cup of coffee a week, we can make building this movement our major focus for the next year, with huge marches, campaigns targeting key leaders, and a massive media push, to make the turning point for all life on Earth...

Poi Dogs anuenue - NEWSLETTER.... our Wolves and Bears in the crossfire of a mass slaughter... We all need to be vigiliant in signing petitions, to stop mass slaughters and to save the Endangered Species Act....Mahalo

Wolves are in the crossfire along with our Bears.... the slaughter of this species is definitely not warranted. I believe ranchers and wolf haters exaggerate their losses, and would definitely go rogue to slaughter our wildlife. Trophy Hunters are just waiting for the kill order on wolves and our bears... We need to save and protect and definitely protect the Endangered Species Act.

 : Our White Wolf
Our White Wolf

I want to talk about our Wolves, the ancestors of our Best Friends. If you have chosen the work of Rescue, for dogs, puppies, kitties or cats, then all of us also need to turn our efforts in rescuing our Wolves from extinction. Wolves are the only species to survive the Ice Age did you know that!!! We all need to speak up regarding the continued culling of our wolves, bears all species of wildlife throughout the nation.
OUR WOLVES AND OTHER PREDATOR ANIMALS ARE VERY SPECIAL SPECIES IN CREATING THE                                   BALANCE TO OUR ECOSYSTEMS

Whose Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?

Scientists have discovered that the DNA of wolves and dogs are identical. They share certain traits as well as a knowledge of pack hierarchy which provides each animal with a place in the pack along with protection and defense of the pack and their territory. Although scientists are uncertain whether man domesticated the dog or they tamed themselves, we do have evidence that dogs have been living with humans for centuries. What is known is that dogs have an instinctive knowledge of their wild counterpart, the wolf.

Wolves and dogs belong to the same family, Canidae, and come from the same species, Canis lupus. All dogs from the tiniest Chihuahua to the massive English Mastiff are related to wolves. Although most dogs look nothing like their wild ancestors, they do share a few qualities that have not been completely lost, through specialty breeding.

 : Our Gray Wolf
Our Gray Wolf

Molecular evidence shows that dogs are descended from the gray wolf, domesticated about 130,000 years ago. But if they all share a common ancestor, why do toy poodles and Great Danes seem to have little in common? Years of selective breeding by humans has resulted in the artificial "evolution" of dogs into many different types.

 : Our Mexican Gray Wolf
Our Mexican Gray Wolf
The Mexican Gray Wolf, a distinct subspecies of the Gray Wolf, once roamed throughout Mexico and the Southwestern United States. Today the global population of these animals is tiny — roughly 83 have been counted in the wild, and another 300 in captivity

Unless the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) takes immediate and dramatic action, this magnificent animal could no longer exist in the wild. WHAT ARE WE MORONS This is why petitions from Defenders of Wildlife, Center for Biological Diversity, Care2, Save Our Wolves and many others to our US Dept of Fish and Wildlife are so important to sign and share. Many of the government offices go rogue, and they mass slaughter both wolves and bears.. aerial killings, inhumane traps. We as a people can stop this and keep our Endangered Species Act in                                    full force. We are a very powerful VOICE.....
Many of us receive emails from organizations that are protecting all species of Wildlife and the Endangered Species Act. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) formally proposed to remove the federal Endangered Species Act protection for nearly all Gray Wolves throughout the United States. Through an independent peer review board they unanimously decided that the best available science doesn’t support the plan to delist, wolves will remain in federal protection at least for a while.
NOW, WOLVES ARE ON A HIT LIST AS ARE OUR BEARS FOR 2017

Under secret government squadS wolves were slaughtered in different states by helicopter in 2016 and now Alaska on going rogue. Wildlife Services admitted to their plan in killing only after all the wolves were found dead.

 : Gray Wolfdog
Gray Wolfdog
Despite heroic efforts from people like you and me, EarthJustice and Defenders of Wildlife, government offices have signed a virtual death warrant for hundreds of wolves.from 2016-2017

The new law, HB470, establishes a $400,000 special fund, the sole purpose of which is killing as many wolves as possible. It is part of a broader effort by wolf-haters to reduce wolf population by killing their pups and adult wolves.

Th legal teams for Center for Biological Diversity and Defenders of Wildlife EarthJustice and many other organizations continue to assess options. Their field staff is gearing up for the fight of the life for the Wolf, Bears, in 2017.

WE HAVE CHOSEN TO SAVE LIVES, WE CANNOT ALLOW EXTINCTION OF OUR PETS ANCESTORS, THEIR HERITAGE. WE ARE THEIR VOICE TOO!!!!!

We have made heroic accomplishments in saving lives in puppy mills, shutting down of puppy mills, we have signed petitions after petitions finally making abuse to an animal a felony.  We are now striving through the help of Animal Legal Defense Fund to have an Abuse Registry in every state in the nation.  We all are working hard to make our nation (America) a "NO KILL NATION"

PLEASE LETS NOT FORGET OUR OTHER FRIENDS OF FUR, OUR WOLVES,                           BEARS, ALL SPECIES OF WILDLIFE
LETS NOT HELP DRIVE THEM TO EXTINCTION, EXTINCT IS FOREVER!!
                             LET'S SAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

News from Avaaz... WHY DO WE HAVE PETITIONS!!!! Avaaz is a 44-million-person global campaign network that works to ensure that the views and values of the world's people shape global decision-making. ("Avaaz" means "voice" or "song" in many languages.) Avaaz members live in every nation of the world. Their team is spread across 18 countries on 6 continents and operates in 17 languages. Take the time to learn about some of Avaaz's biggest campaigns and victories. I hope everyone does sign these petitions, as we are now fighting to save all species of animals, as well as our own.. We have become a species of tunnel vision, wearing blinders so we do not see, nor do we care to see how we as humans, have become the most destructive and dangerous species on our EARTH... We are declaring WAR on every species, including our own. We are now in the fight of our lives and the lives of all species of animals, as well as the Endangered Species Act itself. We can win standing united and our voices will be heard loud and clear throughout the world.. We can make the change through Avaaz petitions, through petitions from every organization, will we have the ability in numbers to save our Earth and all species of life that have been created... Ricken Patel started Avaaz and here is his message to everyone. Mahalo

Dear Avaaz movement,

I don't sign many petitions.

I always think, "yeah, but what difference is my one extra signature going to make?"

But wow, am I glad most of us don't think this way. The 1,137,540th signature doesn't by itself change the game, the whole million of them absolutely can. And the whole million is just a million individual people hoping, believing and acting. Doing *their* part, however small, to make a better world. Without people who make that individual choice, our movement would not exist.

So much of life is like this. Any one of us could be the one person to skip the line, or not vote, or lie on our taxes, or turn away from a neighbour in need. But we don't. Why?

Because it's who we are. Because it's the right thing to do. Because we were raised to love and serve. Because we know what a dark world it would be if everyone failed to do their part.

I've always been awed by the decency of the people in this world of advocates. In reflection on the question of why should we sign, and I pledge to sign more. To be part of that simple act of connection to others, in hope, service, and that precious kind of strength that we can only find together.

Click below to see and join a global, multilingual live chat of our movement about why each of us sign (and message, share, call, lobby, donate, march). These times call for all of us to step up to their needs "WE ARE THEIR VOICE AND WE SPEAK LOUD AND CLEAR.... -

Why we sign

I know many of us are moved by seeing the list of names of others who have signed scroll by on the petition page. I am too. Look for my name there.

With gratitude for this stunningly beautiful movement,
Ricken and the team

PS - Of course, our petitions are just the beginning of our campaigns -- and Avaaz runs some of the most effective, strategic, don't take no for an answer, never say die campaigns in the world! I know many of us only see a campaign at its beginning. See our victories page to see what it looks like at the end.

VEGANS VS HONEY

What is the Vegan argument against honey?

For some vegans, this extends to honey, because it is produced from the labor of bees. Honey-avoiding vegans believe that exploiting the labor of bees and then harvesting their energy source is immoral — and they point out that large-scale beekeeping operations can harm or kill bees.
Asked to clarify how migratory beekeeping is different from honey, given that bees are mistreated in both cases, PETA senior media liaison Catie Cryar wrote in an email that, while it’s challenging to avoid fruits and vegetables that have been created through migratory beekeeping, “everyone can easily avoid honey, which is made by bees for bees, and instead enjoy delicious vegan options such as Agave Nectar.” Which by the way the Agave Plant is pollinated by bees and bats... Wow!! Veganism “shouldn’t be about adhering to rigid dogma for dogma’s sake but rather about making choices that bring about positive change.

There’s never been a better time to be a half-assed vegetarian. Five years ago, the American Dialect Society honored the word flexitarian for its utility in describing a growing demographic—the “vegetarian who occasionally eats meat.” Now there’s evidence that going Flexi is good for the environment and your health. A study released last October found that a plant-based diet, augmented with a small amount of dairy and meat, maximizes land-use efficiency. In January, Michael Pollan distilled the entire field of nutritional science into three rules for a healthy diet: “Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.” According to a poll released last week, Americans seem to be listening: Thirteen percent of U.S. adults are “semivegetarian,” meaning they eat meat for fewer than half of all their meals. In comparison, true vegetarians—those who never, ever consume animal flesh—compose just 1 percent.  Micheal Pollan

Even the vegans who abstain from honey end up dining on the sweat and hemolymph of exploited bees. There isn’t really an alternative: We can’t replace our insects of burden with machines.

Maybe seek out wind-pollinated grains and fruits tended by wild insects. But what about the bugs that inevitably perish in the course of any large-scale agriculture? Even the organic farmers are culpable: They may not spray synthetic pesticides, but they do make use of natural chemicals and predators to kill off unwanted animals.

According to Matthew Ball, the  executive director of Vegan Outreach,“If we present veganism as being about the exploitation of honeybees, it makes it easier to ignore the real, noncontroversial suffering” of everything else. Ball doesn’t eat honey himself, but he’d sooner recruit five vegans who remain ambivalent about insect rights than one zealot who follows every last Vegan Society rule.

The photo below is a worker honeybee, and taken by Ken Thomas

A bee has all of these features and is an insect.  You can contrast this with say, a spider, which is not an insect but an arachnid, having 8 legs (4 pairs), no antennae, and 2 body parts (a head and thorax which are merged into one body part,  and abdomen).

The Honey Industry and Environment

For some, the environmental benefits of a plant-based lifestyle are a major factor when deciding to go vegan. And honey production isn’t always eco-friendly. In some cases, farmed honey bees are out-competing the Wild Honey Bees.  Our wild honey bee populations are now being compromised with African Bees which are very dangerous.
The world of bees and beekeepers is unfamiliar to many of us. The bee population as well as many of our pollinators is on the decline. Bees are necessary for 85-90% of all food grown on our Earth!!!!!  (most all vegetables, fruit trees, Nuts, and so much more). So as a Vegan do you not eat vegetables, fruit, and or nuts?? Because of the decline in our bees, and other pollinators,  Beekeepers are helping farmers worldwide and transporting their bees to pollinate their fruits, vegetables, almond trees, and more.

Whether you are a Vegan, Vegetarian or meat-based consumers
Your Food Wouldn’t Bee Here Without Them: What and When Bees Pollinate

Without bees, we would not have many of the vegetables and fruits we eat every day. Pollinators such as bees, birds, bats, beetles, and other small insects pollinate over 1,200 crops, $235 and $577 billion in global food production.

All fruit and vege's one eats on a daily basis are also made possible by honey bee pollination, including but not limited to watermelons, pumpkins, squashes, zucchinis, lentils, tomatoes, strawberries, mangos, avocados, plums, peaches, apricots, pomegranates, pears, blackberries, raspberries, grapes, peanuts, macadamia nuts, mustard seeds, coconuts, soybeans, and coffee.

How long would humans survive without bees?

Bees also provide food for some bird species, so if a cataclysmic event sent all our bees into a rapture, the aftershocks would ripple up the food chain.

If bees disappeared off the face of the earth, man would only have four years left to live. The line is usually attributed to Einstein, and it seems plausible enough. After all, Einstein knew a lot about science and nature, and bees help us produce food.

“BEE KIND AND PROTECT OUR POLLINATORS ALL OF THEM”  Tia

Unfortunately, that rapture may be coming. While incidences of colony collapse disorder—or entire hives being wiped out overnight. We are losing thousands of colonies per year.  ACShilton2017

Our Bees... Did you know there are the specific jobs for each group of bees in the hive colony? So when I started to notice that some of my bees were dying, I said to myself "wow" what is happening???? We all know that when a bee stings you it will die, why you may ask??? Well, when a honey bee stings, it cannot pull the barbed stinger back out. It leaves behind not only the stinger, but also part of its abdomen and digestive tract, plus muscles and nerves. This massive abdominal rupture kills the honey bee. Honey bees are the only bees to die after stinging. (Good to know). There can be over 70,000 bees in a hive and all have specific duties to address in their colony. There are groups of bees to nurse babies, collect nectar, make honey, guardians of the hive, (those are the stingers) and some are undertakers. A bees lifespan is usually 4-6 weeks, so when it is there time they lose some moisture and the undertakers decide to clean up and remove them dead or somewhat alive. (I bet they're screaming "no no don't take me yet I am not dead) So when I noted some dead bees at their front door, I decided to be the cleaner and gently remove them so to speak. Well, that wasn't such a good idea, as they came after me. Now I know, just leave everything alone and these magnificent creatures of God our bees, will clean the hive properly. Being a novice, and a cleaner upper , I just tried to help out. I found a wonderful article from Beverly Bees on all the working components of the hive. Our Honey Bees are Endangered and we all need to take note of this, as our planet and our food chain as we know it, will no longer exist. We need more advocates for our bees and more Beekeepers to save and protect our bees for the future of our earth, our food, our way of life. Mahalo

Bring Out Yer Dead – The Undertaker Bees

Share10But I’m Not Dead Yet!”
One of the most fascinating aspects of beekeeping is watching the numerous activities of the colony.  Every bee has a specific job, without which the hive as a whole could not exist.  There are bees that build wax; nurse bees to take care of the babies; field bees to collect water, propolis, pollen and nectar; bees to make honey; guard bees to protect the hive; and undertaker bees who clean the hive of carcasses.
The undertaker bees are incredible to watch as these bees work very hard to carry out all the dead and dying bees from the hive.  Sometimes they fly them easily 20 or more feet away from the hive and drop them to the ground. Other times they haul out bees that are bigger and heavier than they can lift into the air.  I have seen undertaker bees struggling for 15 or more minutes to fly with these bees, reposition them several times to try to get a better grip, only to fly a few inches, fall to the ground and painstakingly drag them all the way off of my roof.  If you look in the gutters around my rooftop hives, you will see hundreds of dead bees deposited there over time by the undertaker bees.  My gutters have become the defacto bee cemetery.
An undertaker bee struggling to cart away a drone bee.  She is attempting to fly but can’t get off the ground and is dragging the bee instead.
Sometimes the bees they lug out are still alive. These dying bees do not put up a fight, they let the undertaker bees take them away to die.  I can’t help but think of Monty Python and the Holy Grail [Blu-ray] when ever I see the undertaker bees at work, especially when they cart out the bees that are not dead yet.
