Breaking News, IFAW.. International Fund for Animal Welfare.... I bet many do not know who IFAW and their continuing fight to save all animals and their habitat throughout the world. Founded in 1969 by Brian Davies, an animal activist with a beautiful heart and soul submerged himself in saving animals in crisis and from extreme barbaric actions against them. IFAW started when Brian Davies and a group of citizens came together to stop Canada and other countries from commercial seal hunts slaughtering hundreds of baby seals. Stopping the seal hunts became his passion and since their inception more than 40 years ago, IFAW has become the most effective International Organization in saving Wildlife, Endangered Species (their habitats) dogs, cats, and birds in crisis. They have many landmark findings such as in their report "Wanted...Dead or Alive"where they found online Wildlife Trade of live animals, their parts and products being available for sale in more than 16 countries. and more. Just recently through their help and a panel of legal teams, the International Court of Justice found the the Japan's commercial Whale Hunt in the southern seas, illegal and against International Law. Their rescues expand globally in more than 40 countries. They work with partnering organizations and groups to continue to implement their mission in saving and protecting all species of animals, including all marine life and their habitats. Azzedine Downes is the President and CEO for IFAW and is responsible for the strategic vision that will guide IFAW contribution to uphold conservation and animal welfare worldwide... Their vision... to ensure that all species of animals must be respected, as well as their habitats and all species will be protected and saved from extinction by continuing to influence policy and practices at the international level, as well as nationally... Their vision is our vision.. Every species of animal, and marine life was created with purpose..they are all a very intrinsic part in keeping our ecosystems balanced and healthy.. The video in their newsletter is well worth watching as now our ELEPHANTS face EXTINCTION as more than 20,000 are slaughtered every year. please share and I hope you do take the time to read their news reports.. and DEFINITELY WATCH THE VIDEO...Bravo to IFAW.. Teaming up to end poaching

Can we put an end to poaching?
It won’t be easy to counteract the criminals who profit from this deadly trade. But our tenBoma program is part of the solution.
The goal of tenBoma is to stop poachers before they kill. We use reporting gathered from communities, wildlife rangers, and police to predict – and prevent – a poacher’s next strike.
tenBoma is endorsed by INTERPOL, and more than 70 wildlife service intelligence and investigations officers in Kenya have been trained and equipped. In tenBoma covered areas, we’ve seen a 43% reduction in poaching – and a 15% increase in the elephant population.
By protecting adult elephants, we also protect their young calves. This short video shows the impact of tenBoma.

IFAW and GRI’s Elephant Orphanage Project (EOP) in Zambia provides a healing place for Njanji and other young elephants, some of whom lost their parents to poachers.
I hope you’ll take a moment to see how tenBoma is helping in the fight against poaching and how that makes a difference for baby elephants.
See Njanji’s story
Each year, 20,000 elephants are killed for their ivory – that’s one every 26 minutes. Our mission is to bring this number down to zero … until there are no more orphaned elephants.
Can we put an end to poaching? We must.
Thank you,

Azzedine Downes

IFAW President
P.S. This new video does a great job showing how the tenBoma project can benefit adult and baby elephants.

Newsletter Humane Society International.. Humane Society International has been rescuing puppies, dogs and cats from the meat farms of South Korea, China and the Philippines. These rescues are very demanding and take expert planning to be able to rescue as many animals as possible. With their latest operation in Korea, HSI has helped rescue more than 770 dogs from dog meat farms. Many of the breeds are Cocker Spaniels, English Spaniels, Jindo, Pyrennes, Beagles and Mastiffs. More than 30 million dogs are brutally killed each year, primarily in Asia, for the global dog meat trade. They are also waging campaigns in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos and other Asian nations to stop the trade.. Putting an end to the dog meat trade, which can include cats at times, has been an overwhelming heart breaking experience, but filled with joy that each animal will know love and kindness in their new forever homes in the U.S. Humane Society International places many of the rescued dogs in Florida, Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, Oklahoma and Washington D.C. Please continue to support Humane Society International and all of their efforts in saving all dogs from the brutal slaughter of the dog meat trade. Mahalo

What do these three dogs have in common? They were rescued from dog meat farms in South Korea because of compassionate people like you.

It’s remarkable to see the transformation of these dogs both physically and mentally.

Sophie was rescued along with 149 other dogs suffering in the worst way. She is now enjoying a life of never wondering when her next meal will be—and dinnertime is her most treasured time of the day. Everyone she meets is shocked with just how high she can jump to get snacks!

This is Shadow. She was rescued in the dead of winter when she endured the freezing cold day after day. Today, she enjoys the warmth of her very own home with the love of her family and two feline siblings, Jimmy and Peggy.

Scooter was just a young puppy when we rescued him. His cage mate, Sophie, was the only companion he’d ever known...until now! Today, he enjoys playing with his Mr. Hedgehog toy and he stays busy with his four canine brothers and sisters: Lolly, Merlin, Digby and Micheal.

On behalf of these three new beginnings, thank you for standing with us and fighting cruelty worldwide.

Sincerely,

Adam Parascandola
