This is the update on the bill that will slaughter both Bears, cubs, wolves and their pups. Alaska will be eradicating the predator species which God intended in his efficiency to create a balance to our complete ecosystems throughout the nation. This is a travesty for all of us who continue to help support all organizations who work tirelessly everyday to save and protect our precious wildlife. Our fight is now over, and I know the fight will end in the court system and hopefully put a halt to the biggest kill order set in Alaska.. We need to continue to create petitions, email, facebook and call our senators, state representatives so they understand that their constituents will fight with their heart to save and protect what is most important to them.. " NO LIFE IS BETTER THAN ANOTHER AND ALL LIFE WAS CREATED WITH A PURPOSE" Our life here is to be "Angels of Kindness" to save and protect the voiceless, in all wildlife, marine life, dogs, cats and our enivornment for future generations... Please share and lets STOP THIS BARBARIC ACTION AGAINST OUR WILDLIFE...

Grizzly bear hug
Thanks to everyone for speaking out to defend Alaskan wildlife on 76 million acres of national wildlife refuges against cruel and inhumane killing methods.
Unfortunately, the U.S. Senate passed S.J. Res 18/H.J. Res 69 by a party line vote of 52 to 47 to roll back the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service rule that protected these animals.
This appalling action will allow cruel and unsporting practices such as shooting or trapping whole families of wolves while at their dens with pups, using aircraft to scout for brown and black bears to shoot, trapping bears with steel-jawed leghold traps and wire snares and luring grizzly bears with food to get a point-blank kill. Read more about how this affects our nation’s wildlife on my blog.
The bill now goes to President Trump to be signed into law.
The fight isn't over. With your unwavering support, we will continue to do everything possible to preserve animal protection laws and stop further attacks on animals.
Thank you for all you do for animals.

BREAKING NEWS FROM ASPCA... 50 plus animals including Wolf-Hybrid dogs, and horses are being rescued right now! They are working with the Forest County Sheriff's Department in the state of Wisconsin. Their teams discovered 38 wolf-hybrid dogs and 14 horses living in filth and chained outside with no shelter in the freezing cold, with no access to food or water. All 50 or more animals have been transported to emergency shelters and will be given medical care and all basic needs. I will attach the complete video of the rescue ongoing.. Mahalo

BREAKING NEWS.... ASPCA!!!  MORE THAN 50+' ANIMALS HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THE MOST CRUEL AND ABUSIVE FARM HOUSING THESE ALL THESE ANIMALS...

The ASPCA is assisting with the rescue of approximately 30 wolf-dog hybrids and 14 horses from alleged cruelty in Wisconsin. Get the facts and help now.

BREAKING NEWS:  The ASPCA is currently assisting the Forest County Sheriff's Department with the removal, transport and sheltering of approximately 30 wolf-dog hybrids and 14 horses from a property involved in an animal cruelty investigation in Crandon, Wisconsin.

Upon arrival at the frigid, snowy scene, our team found the animals living in deplorable conditions—many were kept on chains without proper access to shelter, food or water and are suffering from untreated medical issues. The remains of deceased animals were found on the property as well.
Wolf-dog hybrids are the result of breeding a domestic dog and a wolf, and are considered generally unsuitable—and potentially dangerous—pets. "We're stepping in because the basic mental, social and physical needs of these animals are not being fulfilled and they are suffering from a very poor quality of life," said one ASPCA responder.

The ASPCA will continue to work throughout the weekend to transport these animals to our emergency shelter at a nearby location. We are providing daily care, behavioral evaluations and enrichment for these 40+ victims, and we urgently need support

The ASPCA remains on the ground at the request of the Forest County Sheriff's Department in Wisconsin, where more than 50 animals have been removed from heartbreaking cruelty.

LAST CHANCE TO SAVE ALASKA'S BEARS, CUBS, WOLVES AND PUPS... If this bill succeeds Alaska will be going rogue and a culling of bears, their offspring, wolves and their pups will die needlessly. Every predator animal is extremely important to our ecosystems throughout the world. Bears, wolves and other predator animals are essential to the entire balance of earth's ecosystems. They will use the most extreme killing methods to eradicate the species in Alaska. We are now in the crossroads and time is running out. We are the voice for every species of animals, and governments do hear and listen to all the advocates opposing this most extreme killing bill. Please sign the petition and share it. We can stop this slaughter, as we did for other species in harms way. Standing together with organizations who work everyday to save and protect our wildlife and marine life, we can and will make the difference... for all species. Mahalo

We just found out that the Senate intends to vote on H.J. Res. 69 tomorrow.
-Pat
Take action today.

Wolves and bears in Alaska desperately need your help.
The Senate is preparing to vote on H.J. Res. 69 - legislation that would revoke a regulation that helps protect wolves, bears and other carnivores on national wildlife refuges in Alaska from brutal killing practices.
If this bill succeeds, Alaska could authorize extreme killing methods, such as shooting mother bears with cubs and killing wolves with pups, on public lands that belong to all of us.
This is our last chance to stop this deadly legislation – the time to act is now.
Anti-wildlife Members of Congress are using an obscure law called the Congressional Review Act to toss aside a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) regulation that restricts gruesome methods of "predator control" on Alaska national wildlife refuges. In addition, discarding this rule could slam the door on any future regulations that aim to conserve these animals on refuge lands.
Alaska’s scheme targets wolves and bears through extreme methods, including killing mother bears and cubs, killing wolves and pups in their dens, and trapping, baiting and using airplanes to scout and shoot bears.
A Senate vote on this resolution is imminent. We need you to speak out for wildlife and let your Senators know that H.J. Res. 69 is unacceptable!

Sincerely,
Pat Lavin

Animal Legal Defense Fund, is asking for signatures to help keep Orcas out of captivity in the State of Florida. They are now leading the coalition of animal protection and marine conservation groups. We all must take this time and continue to support organizations including ALDF in their efforts in proposing new legislation in the protection of all animals, including our wildlife, endangered species and our marine life. This particular legislation would continue to prohibit breeding Orcas in captivity, as well as transporting them to other states to remain in captivity. Orcas or Killer Whales are inherently unsuited to being held in captivity, due to their longevity, intelligence, acoustic needs, ranging habits, and size. Orcas social needs are complex and they are very family-oriented. There is No tank that offers Orcas enough space or ever could. Many of the tanks are usually only 100-140 feet long and 25-35 feet deep. Wild adult Orcas can reach 6000-12,000 lbs and up to 18-24 feet long. They can travel up to 100 miles in a day and dive up to 300 feet deep. What can a tank do for them or a Dolphin? Orcas as well as dolphins, suffer stress and anxiety when kept in captivity, particularly when there is no enrichment in their life. Do we really want them to be on medication for their mental and physical stress???? Implementing legislation would be a giant step in keeping our marine mammals out of captivity... Please take the time to read and TAKE ACTION !! We are the voice not only for the voiceless, but also for the bravery of these organizations, that fight tirelessly everyday to keep our animals, marine and wildlife safe, protected and out of harms way... Mahalo

The Animal Legal Defense Fund is leading a coalition of animal protection, environmental and marine conservation groups proposing Florida legislation that would ensure no additional Orcas will be held in captivity in the state.
The Florida Orca Protection Act would grandfather in existing orcas but outlaw the holding of any additional orcas in captivity in Florida. The act would also prohibit breeding captive orcas or transporting them out of state, unless to a seaside sanctuary. It’s a commonsense law that just codifies SeaWorld’s previous commitment to phase out breeding orcas immediately and orca performances by 2019.
This is the first Florida legislative session since the tragic death of Tilikum—featured in the documentary Blackfish—who died at SeaWorld Orlando in January. Don’t let his sad life and lonely death be in vain.
The Animal Legal Defense Fund is committed to using the legal system to free all remaining captive orcas. Until then, we’ve made it easy for you to email your legislators and ask them to support the Florida Orca Protection Act and make it illegal to hold any additional orcas in captivity in Florida.
For the animals,

MARCH 4, 2017 Poi Dogs anuenue - NEWSLETTER ... Legislation has been introduced in many states for a data base of abusers...... Here are just a few of our new laws passed in certain States and Counties with regards to our pets! DOGS, CATS and HOOFED animals alike. ALDF (Animal Legal Defense Fund) can make alot happen, we just need to support them in efforts to introduce into legislation new laws that will save and protect all animals from barbaric action against them.. Mahalo

NEWSLETTER

I have received the State Legislation Year End Report and it is also online for viewing. Here are just a few of our new laws passed in certain States and Counties with regards to our pets!  DOGS, CATS and HOOFED animals.
It is getting better, but we really need strong legislation and we need to be viligent in signing petitions, so our voices to be heard.  No Kill Shelters should be allowed to address our legislators directly and be heard.  Let our Legislators see what goes on, videos, power point photos, before and after, and what a difference  Rescue Shelters makes with the help of our networking bodies that are in place and the support they receive from Veterinarians across the country.

 Highlights
The emerging issue was how to balance the need to decrease the animal overpopulation that exists in some areas with ensuring that veterinary care provided in rescue shelters is of high quality and does not impinge on their private veterinary practice. Well Florida, Maine and Oklahoma decided somewhat stricter requirements on animal shelters with regards to medicine. The Legislation regulating shelters and limiting the scope of veterinary services was very controversial in Alabama and South Carolina
Continued Legislation regarding Veterinary care will be again brought up again sometime in 2017.

Many of our states continue to increase penalties and expand the definitions for a variety of animal abuse and cruelty offenses. Michigan has now included animal fighting in the definition of criminal "racketeering. HURRAH!!!!

Nevada increased penalties for animal-fighting offenses and criminalized manufacturing or possessing certain implements e.g. razors, cutting instruments attached to the cocks legs that are intended to be used in cockfighting.

New Jersey passed a law that will enhance penalties for harm to an animal that is used by law enforcement. HURRAH!!!! For that!!!

A few states have enacted legislation to create a statewide animal abuse database or registry as of yet, but bills were introduced this year in more than 11 states. This is the Good work of ALDF Animal Legal Defense Fund. This law should be introduced in every state

Connecticut enacted a law, believed to be the first of its kind and adopted by a state, to facilitate the development and implementation of a state-wide animal assisted therapy program, with collaboration with mental health care providers to incorporate animal assisted therapy into the therapy for children and youth. I think this is grand and every state should implement this law for animal assisted therapy.  Rescued dogs have been a choice,in some state where certain facilities have used them to establish new programs with children and adults.  I believe I wrote about one such state in past Newsletters.

Washington passed a law providing veterinarians with immunity from liability from the good-faith reporting of suspected animal cruelty incidents. I believe they should report every abuse case, as they do for children. I feel that reporting abuse would be common practice.

Connecticut, Nevada and Vermont passed various prohibitions on using a breed to make a determination of a vicious or dangerous dog. Well look at that!!!

Many states. Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland and West Virginia adopted bills or regulations to help fund spay-neuter programs.and are now looking to enact legislation.

There are a few states e.g. Georgia, Oklahoma, Vermont and West Virginia that have enacted regulations on Commercial Dog Breeders and dealers. I really do not think it is enough. They need to be banned or have very very strict monitoring.

The Hurrahs still go out to our Rescue Guardians, our Amber Nelson, Amber's Animal Outreach and WanderingPetsMirta Maltes, (Chain of Love Abandon Animal Rescue)  Xtreme Rescue, 100+ Abandon Dogs of the Everglades, Big Dog Ranch Rescue, Pit Crew Rescue, Donna Alabama BT Rescue, Animals are Better than Humans, UK, National Mill Dog Rescue, Shepard Rescue, Second Chance Rescue and so many many more these are our Angels of Kindness, that rescue every pet they can, vet them, rehab them, foster, then adopt.  We all work together for the betterment of each and every animal.

Live everyday with joy and kindness in your heart to everyone and every living creature.

Live your every day LIFE, as it was your final day of your extraordinary, ordinary LIFE and,

KNOW THAT YOU HAVE DONE YOUR                           VERY BEST TO SAVE AND PROTECT!

Poi Dogs anuenue - NEWSLETTER/ EXTINCT IS FOREVER.... by 2020 2/3rds of all of our wildlife will be gone forever... EXTINCT! We can stop this culling globally and we can protect the Endangered Species Act.. created to protect all animals, including our marine life and all of their habitats. Please sign the petition included, we are their voice and when we speak they listen... Mahalo

"Globally citizens are deeply concerned by scientists warning that ecosystems is critical to sustaining life on Earth and can and could collapse in our lifetimes.  We need to meet existing targets to protect biodiversity, forge a new agreement so that at least 50% of our lands and oceans are protected and restored, and ensure our planet is completely sustainably managed.  We all need to stand together, and collectively sign the petitions, and share them.  We are also fighting for our lives to save from extinction our Endangered Species Act..... We must stand together as we are in the fight for all life.. Mahalo
We must Save our ecosystems and 80-90% of all species.. sign the petition

Scientists say we’re in the midst of the next great extinction, humanity is taking a chainsaw to the tree of life. But an ambitious new plan to protect 50% of our planet would heal our home, and governments are about to meet to discuss the crisis. They will only deliver if they hear a giant chorus behind this plan. Add your name -- before our Earth falls silent:
SIGN THE PETITION

By 2020, two-thirds of wild animals will be gone. Life is being extinguished as fast as when the dinosaurs disappeared -- and it’s happening because humanity is taking a chainsaw to the tree of life.

Unless we stop this tragedy, the Earth’s delicate biodiversity could completely collapse, leaving our planet deathly silent and uninhabitable for humans and all life. But there’s hope - top scientists are backing an ambitious plan to put half our planet under protection and restore harmony

Governments are meeting in days to discuss how we address the crisis. If we bring a resounding chorus of human voices behind the 50% plan, we can push governments to stop the next mass extinction.

Join the global chorus, before the Earth falls silent

We’re testing the boundaries of our planet’s ability to sustain us and all life, but the biodiversity crisis still isn’t high on the political agenda! If enough of us engage now, we could change that.

Scientists say our best chance to save our ecosystems and 80-90% of all species is giving them enough safe space to thrive, then nature uses its wisdom to regenerate. The 50% plan sounds ambitious, but in fact it’s totally viable, and likely the best way to sustain our intricate web of life.

But to get this off the ground we have to show our governments now that people overwhelmingly want to protect 50% from deforestation, dirty energy, and industrial fishing and agriculture. Let’s start today with a massive petition for 50%, and keep building the pressure until we win!

Join the global chorus, before the Earth falls silent

It is a great unwisdom of our species that we have become so disconnected from our natural world. But it's not too late. We have the capacity to grow wiser. Our hope for change built this massive movement, and we won the Paris climate deal. We are within sight of protecting 50% of our planet. Let's come together, lead, and restore the harmony between humans, animals and our home.

The Importance of Foster Care to Rescue Shelters Throughout  The Nation!

Foster Care a wonderful program

I SAVED A LIFE CAN'T YOU?
THIS PUP WAS SAVED
THIS PUP WAS SAVED
Many of us want to help and definitely want to make a real impact on homeless dogs, puppies, kitties and cats. Many of us are just not ready to own a pet, at least the people I have spoken to and I asked why not FOSTER?   The Foster Care Program is a necessary spoke in animal rescue wheel – without Foster Care no movement can occur.  Rescues Shelters remain full and many of our rescue animals end up at KILL SHELTERS.  Then many say we need to stop euthanasia, well the ability to provide Foster Care is the answer. RIGHT!!! It is a temporary home to a puppy, dog, kittie or cat in need.  It is an immensely rewarding experience so WHY NOT!!!

Many dogs and cats across the nation are living in animal shelters and humane societies, desperately waiting for someone to adopt them and take them to a new home. Unfortunately, it can take a long time for homeless pets to be adopted.

There are Fears that can discourage Foster Care, many feel they will become too attached, and will be unable to give them up. Remember you are providing a loving, caring and stable environment. You are their Mentors, as that of Fostering a Child, and for myself working both in Pet Foster Care and Child Foster Care programs, each of the Foster families face the same fears.

Many of our Foster Families would like to enter the program, but they worry about behaviors of the foster pet. There definitely can be clashes of personality between the foster pet and other members of the family or pets. Remember many of the animal shelters will definitely try to place pets in Foster homes that will best match everyone's personality. Despite these fears entering the Foster Care Program and becoming a Foster Mom, Dad and or family, you are their mentors, you are their best friend saving them from a
"KILL SHELTER" AND THE MANY MOMENTS YOU WILL SHARE WITH THIS ABUSED, HOMELESS PET WILL BE PRICELESS.

BENEFITS:  A  fairly simple background check is conducted and individuals and/or families can foster a pet just about anywhere. You can Foster if you live in apartments or a house.  You can ask for long-term or short-term placements, large, medium or small pet and the Rescue Shelter will provide the pet with vaccinations, medicines, and other veterinary service. You as a Foster Person or Family are responsible for food and a kind and loving environment.

Foster Care individuals and  families will seek out support from other foster families through the help of the Rescue Shelter.  Fostering a cat or dog brings unrelated people together and helps form new friendships and bonds that otherwise might not exist. Additionally, caring for foster pets brings together pet owners of all types.

Fostering a puppy, dog, kittie or cat is one of the most rewarding experience that a person or family can and will experience. Both you and the pet will have a unique and nurturing experience. when that special pet is invited temporarily into your home. Through the time spent together and the bonds that are formed, foster families have the ability to change and save the life of a dog or cat. If the foster home does not adopt, they have a say in the adoption process.
YOU ARE SAVING THE LIFE OF THAT PET ENSURING THEIR SAFETY!

The most important to remember is that you are Saving A Life, isn't that what it is all about? We all want to help, but we talk, and talk, and talk, it is now the time to take action.  All shelters are overcrowded and YOU can make that difference.

MAKE THAT CHOICE AND ENTER A FOSTER CARE PROGRAM, AT YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD SHELTER. REMEMBER WE ARE THEIR VOICE, WE CHOOSE TO SAVE LIVES RIGHT???? LETS STOP EUTHANASIA. MAKE OUR "KILL SHELTERS" INTO "NO KILL" NETWORK AND BECOME A FOSTER CARE PARENT!!!!!  –  IT COSTS NOTHING BUT YOUR CHANCE TO LOVE, CARE AND SHARE A TIMELESS EXPERIENCE WITH AN ABUSED AND HOMELESS PET.!!!
