This was a breaking story.. He'Art of Rescue... Who are they??... they are a registered organization and their headquarters are located in Amsterdam, Netherlands and operate out of Turkey. They rescue very abused, tortured animals in critical condition. They are a very large international group which started with one person. Now they are scattered around the world, saving, rehabilitating and re-homing both cats and dogs. Rima Nur is the founder and Chairman of the Board of He'Art.. she started her quest in Turkey helping animals in distress and re-homing. She studied Medicine and then turned her knowledge on rescuing, which became a passion. Today they have teams in Norway, Germany, Netherlands, and throughout the UK. They too work as all rescues throughout the world, tirelessly dedicating everyday to help save, protect and re-home. Setting up a rescue is not as easy as one thinks, when it comes to certain countries. They do have to work around many regulations, whether it is facebook, fundraisers and have many restrictions put upon them. They do rely on private donations, from supporters, as do our rescues here in the US.. but they have a remarkable following of supporters. I do have friends from Germany who do know of this organization and their continued dedication in helping all animals throughout the world. Their stories, as do the stories from PETA, Humane Society International, ASPCA and from our local rescues are very heart wrenching and one has to think, how can any person be so incredibly barbaric in their actions towards animals. Please visit them http://heartofrescuetr.org/ it does give a better picture and you will meet teams involved in this organization... Mahalo

EMERGENCY !!!
INCREDIBLE CRUELTY !!! KIDS DROWNED PASCAL IN GLUE !!! HE IS BARELY BREATHING !
WATCH WHAT HAPPENED TO PASCAL NOW !!
CLICK TO WATCH
What happened to him is beyond the limit of your wildest imagination. He is the victim of a group of kids who found it funny to drown him in glue and drag him in the mud. The glue became a second skin in time and as thick as the cement preventing the blood flow to several points in his body.
As we take him out of his box and put on the ground , Pascal moans in pain dragging his two feet. They seem to be broken during the accident. He finds a dark corner in the examination room where he hides from us. His stare meets ours in this incredible moment of shock : betrayal , terror and pain seemed to have almost materialized in his broken soul. He is just a baby yet but his eyes look much older.

He is expecting the worst.

Pascal suffers from extreme damage to his skin by the burn of the chemical . A thorough blood test will show the extent of the damage the kids done on him however our doctors can say that his recovery will not be easy.
We will need every help to restore Pascal's health to what it was before the cruel kids did this to him...

Living With Wolves... Defenders of Wildlife, has a beautiful video on our wolves and how we, as well as our government run services, ranchers, landlords, can co-exist with wolves.. Wolves are a precious piece of our ecosystem by maintaining it's balance. For all of us that want to co-exist with all animals in a peaceful civilization, we must stop our barbaric actions in every sense of the word against all animals. I hope you share this video, and become a Defender for our wolves.. Extinct is forever and our wolves are a very Endangered Species.. Mahalo

People and Wolves Can Coexist
Dear Tia,
You care about wolves. And you and I will never give up on our quest to see wolf populations healthy and growing.
Majestic wolves must be free to run in the wild. But people pose the greatest threat to wolves today.
Wolf recovery is working. Wolves are now living in areas where they were once wiped out - places like Oregon, Washington, Arizona, New Mexico and California. They are helping restore the balance of nature once again. But more wolves on the land brings more people into close contact with wolves. And when conflicts occur, the wolves are blamed. But it’s not their fault. They’re just doing what they’ve always done...looking for food and raising their young.
Reducing conflicts between wolves and people is one of the best ways to advance wolf recovery for the long term. I hope you'll take a moment to watch our video for a glimpse into what we're doing to help people and wolves live together.
We must never accept a "shoot first and ask questions later" approach to living with wolves, or any wildlife. Too much hard work has gone into the decades of gray wolf recovery efforts that have brought these amazing creatures back from the brink in the lower 48 states.
We're partnering with landowners, livestock producers, biologists, community leaders, other conservationists and state and tribal agencies to develop creative solutions...like flag fencing and range riders that reduce the chances that livestock will encounter wolves. Our smart solutions are aimed at creating important dialogues and finding solutions while always putting the wolves first.
Together, you and I can save more wildlife – from wolves to panthers, bears to black-footed ferrets.
I hope you feel good knowing you are part of the solution when you support Defenders of Wildlife. You are helping wildlife thrive in their natural habitats andhelping people appreciate the wild world around them.
Sincerely,
Jaime Rappaport Clark

WOLVES get a shot in the arm from the people of Oregon.... How Awesome.. All predator animals are very crucial to our whole ecosystem of life... they balance our ecosystems and bring a healthy balance to all life... Our WOLVES are very detrimental to this process.. we need more education and we must do more to save and protect them from extinction... Government officials need better ways than to go rogue on our wolves, and they must initiate safety measures for our wolves and their pups. Now is the time for our government to encourage ranchers to work with wolf coalitions and stop trophy hunting in all the Northwestern States and throughout the nation... Mahalo

Poll: Most Oregonians Oppose Wolf Hunting
A new poll finds that the vast majority of Oregon voters -- from both rural and urban areas -- oppose hunting as a way to manage wolves and believe wildlife officials wrongly removed state protections from wolves last November. The poll also revealed that most Oregonians believe nonlethal methods should be the primary focus in reducing conflicts between wolves and livestock.

The poll was commissioned by the Pacific Wolf Coalition, which includes the Center for Biological Diversity, and comes as the state reviews its wolf-management plan -- and while our court fight continues to reinstate statewide protections.

"Oregonians value wolves and feel that the state should be doing more to protect them, including resolving conflicts with livestock without resorting to guns and traps," said Amaroq Weiss, the Center's West Coast wolf organizer.

Tia,
I have some big news.
We have been fighting for five long years to stop the BLM's wipeout of Wyoming's wild horses. Today, for the second time this week, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals has handed wild horses a major legal victory! The court ruled that the BLM broke two federal laws when it rounded up 1,262 wild horses from the Wyoming Checkerboard in 2014.
This is huge! It means that the BLM's proposed 2016 Checkerboard roundup is also illegal! The BLM just notified the court that it was pulling the plug on this latest roundup of 500 wild horses, which was scheduled to start onOctober 18Not only that, the decision permanently prevents BLM from treating the public lands as private and allowing ranchers to dictate whether or not wild horses will be allowed to live on our public lands.
This is our third major victory for wild horses in just over a month! On Monday, the Tenth Circuit ruled that BLM is not required to remove horses from public lands just because the population exceeds arbitrarily-established population limits. And on September 9, the BLM dropped plans to conduct dangerous surgical sterilization experiments on wild horses in Oregon, citing the lawsuit filed by AWHPC and The Cloud Foundation as the reason for its decision.
I hope that you will take the time to read more about the Tenth Circuit's precedent-setting decision and savor this latest victory for wild horses and burros. We look forward to working together to get fair and humane treatment for our beloved wild horses and burros.
Many thanks for all you do... I hope you have a great weekend!

ANATOMY OF A PUPPY MILL RESCUE... ALDF had an amazing victory in shutting down one of the largest puppy mills, and now is the anatomy of shutting one down and the statistic of how many puppies, dogs, cats, livestock, wildlife and birds are in these puppy mills. We all need to take the time to help, sign petitions for better legislation against these very abusive mills and stronger penalties against the owners.. Mahalo

Human Society of the US, ASPCA,NY, PETA, ALDF. and more are all part of a intervention to rescue and save the animals at Puppy Mills.

What is the anatomy of a puppy mill rescue.. well many watch the news and it looks like it may take a faction of the time to rescue dogs, cats, possibly livestock and horses. Now we need to look at the whole picture.. start to finish.. which can take up to a year. Why is that you may ask??

It starts with emails, phone calls, under cover visits, and videos. Neighbors will call and email and complain about barking, foul odors and fleas. Some will call or email that they smelled burning flesh.  Now it starts this can be considered launching a full scale political view and a campaign to seize and rescue dogs, cats, wildlife and livestock  Reviews of the investigations are then forwarded to legal teams to ensure all the information is beyond approach, and it will then become fuel to light that fire. Once, the undercover investigation documents are in all in order and reviewed, along with videos, then implementing a search warrant for the property is the next step.  Once the Search and Seizure Warrant is given the local authorities accompany the organization, which has a convoy of trucks, vans, horse trailers if needed, and trained volunteers usually from surrounding counties.

Local Sheriff, Deputies and the staff of the local chapter of the organization implementing the rescue, appear at the front door of the owners of the puppy mill.  Many times the owners will not allow entrance and will say there is nothing wrong here, once the investigators of the organization enter, and see the premises, owners will argue with authorities and will usually end with arrests and the rescue of the animals is in motion. Some of the animals are so dirty, unclean, absolutely no care, one cannot tell what breed. Many are without water and food, and some are nibbling on dead wildlife pieces of meat mixed in with old dog food.

There are estimated over 10,000 puppy mills in the United States. and implementing the steps to put them out of business is a very tedious and one must be very meticulous in documentation . Every dog, cat, wildlife and livestock rescued will be evidence to build the case against owners of puppy mills. Health records, e.g. broken bones, (many have), infections, skin lesions, bloody fluid noted in ear canals and so much more, must be meticulously documented by the veterinarian which will also be used in the case.

Once the rescue begins, the staff of the organization enters, along with the trained volunteers. Many of the dogs will not know how to walk on a leash and many may not want to be touched by rescuers.  Carefully and with patience, love and a gentle voice every animal will be carried out by a parade of loving and caring volunteers. Each animal, dog, cat, bird, livestock, horse will be inspected by a veterinarian for outward problems. Many will have hair loss, fly bites and tops of ears missing, gum disease, matted fur encrusted with feces and definitely emaciation. Some may even be in packs, so they protect one another, bear teeth, but they too will be carefully and lovingly rescued. They are then carried taken to mobile kennels, in the trucks and SUV's. They are now heading for SAVE HAVEN, in the care of kindness, which none of them have ever known or encountered during their lifetime. Some will be approachable for adoption maybe within six weeks or more. Others will take more time, personality issues, which will need a lot of caring.and continue training. These organizations who implement these large rescues, work with many "NO KILL" shelters and foster care, in every state, and county, who will then have the dogs, puppies, cats, even livestock ready for adoption.

What is sad is that many of the Puppy Mill owners, were once rescuers at one time, some maybe  worked with AKC as Exhibitors and Judges.  "WOW" how can they turn an about face and become such abusers. They seem to have turned a blind eye and definitely do not have love in their hearts for the animals in their care. I guess "money is the root of all evil", as they say.

Many will go to prison, some may serve just jail time, with enormous fines and definitely not able to have animals again.

"The HSUS identified a puppy mill: an operation that sells dogs for money and fails to breed them appropriately or provide adequate housing, shelter, staffing, nutrition, socialization, sanitation, exercise, and veterinary care. That definition was agreed to last year by The HSUS, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the American Pet Products Association, the Pet Industry Distributors Association, the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council, and retailers Petco and Petland."

The HSUS began is now offering a $5,000 reward, the organization and is now receiving more than 600 leads from its puppy mill tip line (1-877-MILL-TIP), the web, and state directors.

All of the the organizations whether it is Humane Society US, PETA, ASPCA, ALDF, Best Friendsand more, who implement these large scaled rescues from Puppy Mills, depend on us for donations, and help. They depend on us to sign petitions, for better legislation regulating these mills. They cannot do what is necessary without each and every one of us who see this abuse, the horrid conditions the animals live in, we also need to reach out to them, HELP, DONATE (when possible) be a first responder and volunteer to help the rescues, especially if it is in your state or county..
We too are here to SAVE AND PROTECT all animals in need of our help!!!

                                      Puppy Mill Statistics
  • An estimated 167,388 breeding dogs are currently living in United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)-licensed commercial facilities for breeding purposes this very moment.*
  • There are an estimated 10,000 puppy mills in the United States (this includes both licensed and unlicensed facilities).
  • Over 2 million puppies bred in mills each year.
  • An estimated 1.2 million dogs are euthanized in shelters every year

BREAKING NEWS
dog with mouth taped shut
PETA's observer documented that on several occasions, workers tightly bound dogs' snouts with leashes—stressing them and dangerously inhibiting their ability to pant and cool themselves.
LEARN MORE
Dear Tia ,

When you go away on vacation, who takes care of your dog? And when you sign up for dog training, who is at the other end of the leash?

A PETA observer worked at Inghram's Sit 'N Stay Dog Academy, a training and boarding kennel in Tampa, Florida, after PETA received a disturbing tip from a distraught former customer.

Dogs at Sit 'N Stay were confined to cramped, sometimes broken crates—without a drop of water to drink—for up to 19 hours straight as part of their "training," according to a supervisor. Instead of comforting a dog who was bleeding from a serious wound sustained in an attack by another dog, a manager repeatedly yanked on her collar and roughly attempted to tie her mouth shut with a leash.

PETA's observer documented that on several occasions workers tightly bound dogs' snouts with leashes—stressing them and dangerously inhibiting their ability to pant and cool themselves. They were visibly terrified.

Did you board your dog here? Please contact us.

Please warn others about the dangers of boarding facilities by sharing this video on social media.

Whenever you are searching for a trainer or going out of town and can't take your dog with you, the safest and least stressful option is to leave your dog at home with a trusted caregiver. If that's not an option, see our tips on finding a reputable pet sitter and boarding kennel here.

News from International Fund for Animal Welfare.... I bet many do not know who IFAW and their continuing fight to save all animals and their habitat throughout the world. Founded in 1969 by Brian Davies, an animal activist with a beautiful heart and soul submerged himself in saving animals in crisis and from extreme barbaric actions against them. IFAW started when Brian Davies and a group of citizens came together to stop Canada and other countries from commercial seal hunts slaughtering hundreds of baby seals. Stopping the seal hunts became his passion and since their inception more than 40 years ago, IFAW has become the most effective International Organization in saving Wildlife, Endangered Species (their habitats) dogs, cats, and birds in crisis. They have many landmark findings such as in their report "Wanted...Dead or Alive"where they found online Wildlife Trade of live animals, their parts and products being available for sale in more than 16 countries. and more. Just recently through their help and a panel of legal teams, the International Court of Justice found the the Japan's commercial Whale Hunt in the southern seas, illegal and against International Law. Their rescues expand globally in more than 40 countries. They work with partnering organizations and groups to continue to implement their mission in saving and protecting all species of animals, including all marine life and their habitats. Azzedine Downes is the President and CEO for IFAW and is responsible for the strategic vision that will guide IFAW contribution to uphold conservation and animal welfare worldwide... Their vision... to ensure that all species of animals must be respected, as well as their habitats and all species will be protected and saved from extinction by continuing to influence policy and practices at the international level, as well as nationally... Their vision is our vision.. Every species of animal, and marine life was created with purpose..they are all a very intrinsic part in keeping our ecosystems balanced and healthy.. please share and I hope you do take the time to read their news reports.. Dear Tia,
Here are three quick facts about pangolins:
  1. They're scaly, burrowing mammals that live in Africa and Asia.
  2. They're the most illegally traded mammal in the world, with an estimated 1.1 million traded in just the last decade.
  3. They've just won new protections, thanks to IFAW supporters and a coalition of animal and conservation groups.
I've always been fascinated by pangolins, and concerned for their survival, so I'm thrilled to share this news with you.
I hope you're proud of how your support and actions are making a difference for all kinds of animals, from our cat and dog companions, to charismatic animals like elephants and big cats, to more exotic creatures like cobras, saiga antelope, and pangolins.
It shows how every animal is vital, and how, together, we can make a lifesaving difference for them.

Dear Tia,
Mother dogs held captive by puppy mills in Pennsylvania will have more legal protection thanks to a landmark decision reinstating regulations on the industry. A panel of judges found in favor of the Animal Legal Defense Fund in our lawsuit against the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. The decision closes a loophole -- created by enforcement exemptions -- in the Dog Law, and now puppy mills in Pennsylvania will have more regulations, leading to concrete improvements in conditions for puppies and dogs who are forced to live in puppy mills. Now mother dogs should have unfettered access to an exercise area and the use of metal strand flooring is banned. With your help, the Animal Legal Defense Fund will continue to push for stronger laws protecting dogs until the inhumane puppy mill industry shuts down altogether.

California Governor Jerry Brown made the bullhook ban official, signing into law a prohibition on using this cruel instrument of torture statewide. Since it is practically impossible to force elephants to perform tricks without a bullhook, circuses and other industries that exploit elephants for entertainment have been dealt a serious blow. California is now the second state -- after Rhode Island -- to have a statewide bullhook ban. A huge thank you to all of our California supporters who took action, and contacted their legislators at our urging -- to make sure this bill got to the governor’s desk. With your support, the Animal Legal Defense Fund will continue to push for regulatory changes that will bring an end to the cruel exploitation of rare and endangered species like elephants once and for all.

By now many of you have already heard the great news that Animaland Zoo, an inhumane roadside zoo in Pennsylvania, has shut down as a result of our legal efforts. After closure, the Animal Legal Defense Fund helped to ensure the animals were relocated to sanctuaries that will allow them to have more space, companionship and species appropriate enrichment. It is because of your support that we are able to litigate cases to liberate animals like the ones at Animaland Zoo.

Did you know that more than 10,000 dogs are shot and killed by police officers each year? In an effort to expose this injustice, and to draw attention to solutions and prevention that protect officers and dogs, the Animal Legal Defense Fund is sponsoring the documentary, Of Dogs and Men. We’re hosting the Los Angeles premiere Thursday, September 22 at 6:30 p.m. If you can, please join us. You can also visit the film's website to learn more about seeing the film, licensing a screening and taking action to protect dogs.

A big hero of ours, nine-year-old Willow, makes toys for cats and kittens who don't have homes. For every $25 donated, Willow has pledged to sew and send one cat toy to her local shelter. You can support Willow, shelter kittens and the Animal Legal Defense Fund by adding your name to the Wall of Love. Give it a try!
